the misfits on Project 1950. Every single fucking classic song got murdered. :/
brody dalle has her moments too
Just on the spur of the moment I have to select Marilyn Manson, especially for his efforts on Tourniquet, especially the chorus. It's like someone strangling a rabid cat.
Also the OTHER guy in the Kinks.

The winner in this thread is a woman called Florence Foster Jenkins: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Foster_Jenkins
She gave performances of operatic works to large crowds despite having very little notion of the concept of pitch.
Stick her name into limewire if you fancy a laugh; burn a cd of it if you have a mortal enemy.
ever heard MM acustic stuff. he actually has some voice. think he is a really good singer.
Aye he has a good voice when the material is up to scratch. His performance on Mechanical Animals is light years ahead of Tourniquet but I would never class him as a great vocalist but I suppose you could say that about folk like Dylan and Bowie too!

I’ll throw Shirley Bassey and Eartha Kitt on the pile of awful singers. Sure, technically they’re good—but both sing in such an affected manner that every note out of their pipes grates on my ears like nails on a blackboard.
The interval between birth and death is fractal. Any given moment is infinitely deep and rich, and therefore one lifetime is quite enough for me.
Great call - I didn't think anyone on AN would know Florence FJ.
My parents bought an album or 2 years and years ago for the comedy element. The woman was superb. She couldn't hold any tune let alone an operatic one, yet she carried on regardless.
Personally I admire her tenacity and beligerance. She wanted to sing so she did - even though she had absolutely no talent. Her records sold, people paid to watch her, so despite her inability to sing, she actually did OK out of trying.
There are plenty of talentless singers selling records now - the difference is, talented engineers and producers now have the technology to manipulate recordings to sounds reaonable. Florence didn't have that luxury and more credit to her because of that.![]()
I want to teach the world, but not a song.
I need to tell them where they're going wrong:
To trust to serendipity not fate:
To just believe your heart and conjugate.
I imagine that Marilyn Mansons whining goth tones are an affectation he adopts and that he can probably sing perfectly normally.
Tim Wheeler, Burton C. Bell, Chris Martin, Fran Healy, Alex Kapranos, Skin...I could go on for days. I've long since lost count of otherwise decent bands who are totally let down by their singer.
Mark E. McKeown: I will NOT be graceful, I will SHOW MY WORKING.
Clear Air Turbulence: The best hardstyle money can buy.
Bunny & The Misshapes: Really?
murder on the high Cs!
cheers that made my day![]()

Liam Gallagher makes me wish for a pair of industrial ear muffs.
.
Tim Wheeler, although the guy in general just grates on my nerves.
Brody Dalle and Courtney Love are awful too.
