Def Jam- Teriyaki Boyz

Def Jam buying into Japanese Hiphop...surely not!

Its true though. Ryo-Z and Illmari from Rip slyme and another Japanese guy team up with a Japanese guy that owns a Clothing label called 'A Bathing Ape' to make the Teriyaki Boyz. The main thing that seperates this from general J-hiphop is the production- The Neptunes, Adrock(Beastie Boys), Daft Punk, DJ Premier, DJ SHADOW, Cornelius, Dan the Automator, Cut Chemist, Mark Ronson, Just Blaze and DJ Michael 5000 Watts (Swishahouse). Unbelievable.

Their website is www.teriyakiboyz.com

And you can check out their first video single (produced by Daft Punk I believe).Here- http://media.putfile.com/Teriyaki-Bo...tbreaker-PROMO

It isn't the best song, taking the piss outta boybands, the shadow track though is superb.

Re: Def Jam- Teriyaki Boyz

This sounds like a promising venture.

Re: Def Jam- Teriyaki Boyz

One of those ‘aha!’ moments. I see now why I’ve started noticing their name all over the place—with so many fashionable names involved, it’s a marketing wet dream.

Can’t say that I think much of Heartbreaker, going on that 45 second sample.
