Later Edge | Not paying is pretty harsh IMO. if you enjoy the night then you should pay for it. It's not as if the guys are corporate whores or owt.
well, I'm sure you know what I mean. |

well, I'm sure you know what I mean. | Exactly, that's why I've always paid. But I can see that there is a flaw in the system at Bedlam for paying in. Supposedly the bouncers have had a go at the organisers about changing their arrangements. Saying they should move their pay-in table. My suggestion was they could get cheap wristbands or something of that sort, to make it exceptionally easy to spot non-paying punters. I'm sure Bedlam organisers could get them cheap somewhere. Not that I'm excusing the fact my girlfriend didn't pay, she's an idiot. She realises she was wrong, but felt it was a bit harsh of the bouncers (or organisers, not sure who spotted her) to punt her out. Good way to set an example and all that, eh?

| Re: Bedlam 2nd Sept. fair enough, they maybe should have told her to pay before booting her, though it does depend on the time of the booting and if the cash box is closed. |

| Re: Bedlam 2nd Sept. doh for not paying, but it does seem a bit harsh, especially due to birthday circumstances, being regulars etc. im pretty sure a good few bedlam regulars have drunkenly wandered past the paypoint and bouncers, so a point of reminding people they need to pay or the bouncers actually checking strictly rather than being half asleep at the door would help.
in fact ive done it before, but in the circumstances that i had to break a £20 at the bar (due to no change in money box at door) and i was trusted to go back and pay later. i remembered about 2 hours later >_<, and in those circumstances id have been raging if chucked out rather than reminded.
i understand that those are a different set of circumstances, but if treated by saturdays standards, would have most likely resulted in the same outcome, as genuine or not, every punter will most likely end up getting treated in the same manner by door staff, regardless of their story or reason. Therefore it would be fair for them to act with some discression, especially when working a night that has a reputation for itself aside from the unions interests.
i enjoy bedlam as a night that people can go to and not get hassle etc (anything that arises (rarely) can usually be sorted out with a little (drunken) discussion and (whats left of our)common sense). for the bouncers to basically create hassle for folks when it could be otherwise sorted seems a bit silly, and not in the interests of the club organisers and their hard work.
Summary:
- YAY for bedlam
- BOO for regulars getting asked to leave

She was hefty in the wrong, so no excuses. Just thought a wee slap on the wrists and a warning would have been suffice. Hopefully this will be a warning to anyone who's forgot to pay, or is actually going to chance not paying.
