CKY Summer Euro Tour 2006 - Part 7

Highfield Festival:

So here it is, last show of the tour.. and what a way to go out.

This isnt a big festival, maybe 20,000 people, but we’re right next to a lake.. an absolutely beautiful setting, and a realy nice sunny day. Deron takes a swim in the lake.. and after the golf cart incident yesterday, today the boys decide to ‘re-allocate’ a small boat and go for a paddle around the lake.

On the bill with us, as well as Danko Jones, are Wolfmother, another band I’ve really been looking forward to seeing. Both bands play fantastic live sets, giving us a high standard to follow, which of course we do.

After the show we have to get all the gear ready to head back to the US. You have to de-tune all the guitars before they go on the plane, something to do with the pressure in the hold.. I dunno, I’m not a guitar tech.
Everyone has to repack their bags too, there’s still the whole security scare going on at the airports.

The weather gets worse as the day goes on, the wind picks up and it starts to rain quite heavily. By the time the Kaiser Chiefs take the stage it’s getting a bit hairy.. the promoter is looking worried, they might have to stop the show if it gets any worse. I’ve been in their position before, having to stop a big show because of bad weather.. it’s not a good feeling. Everything works out in the end.. the show runs right thru to the finish.. the crowd are a bit wet tho’.


Me, with two drinks? No, one of them was for.... someone else.. honestly!

After the Red Bull incident a few days ago, my camera gives up after getting waterlogged in my pocket.. it’s making all sorts of strange noises and refusing to focus properly… bastard!

So that’s it, it’s done… apart from getting everyone on flights home and hanging about in an airport all day.. which is just too dull to even be talking about.

It’s been good, I’ve had a real fun time with the guys.

Well done Al, the tour diaries are always good but i enjoyed this one more than the rest. Maybe a bit biased cause im a huge HUGE CKY fan but it was excellenti, nice one GOLD STAR
