And the riding adventures continue. We are now cantering confidently and working on leg yielding and changing canter leads. My muscles are actually re-learning quite quickly and I am no longer as stiff as a board the morning after riding., which is pretty much every day at the moment. Ii have had to order him a martingale and a flash noseband and a loose ring french link snaffle though as he does this thing with his head where it comes up to meet my nose sometimes which is rather concerning, but funny too. He is quite mouthy as well and chomps away at his bit throwing his mouth open, hence the flash noseband and the change of bit - don't think he is quite happy in a jointed snaffle so the search for bit perfection begins with the french link. I am loving it though and other than his head throwing and bit chomping arguments, he is actually a lovely horse to ride. He has the most beautiful trot stride and his extended trot is smart as fuck.
I went to watch some friends taking part in a XC competition yesterday which was good fun although I had to fight the urge to borrow a horse and just go do the damn course. We walked around the 20 odd jumps and saw a few tumbles, one girl landed right on her face when her horse tripped over a roll top jump, poor sod bust her lip but she was fine. My friends all got clears and did exceptionally well apart from one who was doing her first XC course and held back just a bit too much meaning she was dreadfully slow. I was absolutely shattered when I got home and immediately put my jammies on and climbed into bed.
Kids are off school this week which means not so much riding and more parenting. Pity it's pissing down though as it means I can't really take the kids anywhere. Will have to source some indoor activities for later in the week. Dylan has gone off to stay at his pals house for a few nights and my daughter has taken over the PC in the living room so at least they are not bored. Tomorrow they are coming to watch me ride in my lesson and to meet Arion as they have not been able to come to the yard with me yet.
