Bah Humbug

I absolutely hate Xmas!

I went back to work on the 8th December. It's not been too bad actually and I am kind of floating around on an "I love my job" cloud which will no doubt end as soon as I get my first screamer on the phone

I found some snazzy head scarves to cover my scars and they appear to be attracting minimal attention. However I did feel rather silly on meeting a bunch of guys in the pub on Saturday night, 2 of whom were dressed as pirates and wearing head scarves. All I needed were some beads and a fake beard and I would have looked just like one of the gang I am still not entirely comfortable being out in public unless I have a riding hat on my head which hides a multitude of sins but sadly I would look even more stupid sitting in the pub wearing one of those so head scarves it is. As I have opted to have no more surgery until next winter, I best get used to them. The upside is that I saw some piccies of myself today and I do indeed look much younger than I did 6 months ago which is what everyone has been telling me.

Did my first dressage test on Arion a few weeks ago and scored quite well, just 2 points behind the 5th place rosette. I was quite pleased with him really but we have a long ways to go before he and I are at our best. Plenty of time though as he is only a 6 year old. Got him a nice new shiny saddle which has helped as the one I borrowed off the riding school was a bit neat to say the least. I have given him 2 weeks off ridden work over Xmas and New Year then we start some serious schooling. Our jumping is a bit erratic at the moment, he is all legs and not sure where to put himself before the jump plus he jumps everything like it's a Puissance wall which is a tad scary so back to the drawing board for us both for a few months just to fine tune him and get me used to his sheer power over the jumps

I still hate Xmas and cannot wait until it is well and truly over
