small child xmas hell ...

... is where Im scribbling from today! Two panto shows, a 3-department christmas concert and all the usual music and drama classes (with all the mess-ups, fuck-ups and general hooha that goes along with it) all at around the same time. On top of this the drama kids (all 400 of them) brought in a present each that the tutors pass onto social services to be doled out to less fortunate kids. Its fab that they all got involved, and commendable that they brought so much, but im currently surrounded by 400 presents. Every time I breathe I set off a massive avalance. Im considering building myself a 'present-fort' to hide in.
When I came back from my lunch (15minutes to run to subway to get a meatball sub to counter my raging hangover - yes i am THAT stupid) I found 5 giggling primary 6's in my office. Turns out their class had decided to to mini skits as presents for people and I was one of the lucky chosen few. They sang (loudly) a chorus of 'We wish you a Merry Christmas' and, just as I was applauding their lovely singing, a kid - whom they'd previously wrapped in Christmas paper - burst out from under my desk and screamed 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!'. I fair near shit myself
It's odd this year actually. The kids enthusiasm must be catching 'cos Im feeling surprisingly festive. Usually Christmas isn't something Im overly fussed about. Course it could also have something to do with the kids giving me cookies. Sugar - guaranteed to make me feel festive
