Long Story Short

Alright, condensed version of the last few weeks, while I'm somewhat in the mood.
Easter weekend, one extra day off work, very much appreciated. Janette's parents for Easter dinner (something I'd never had before coming here, odd)... her brother and his wife got a puppy, very cute. No idea of the breed. Either "Dog", or "Not Cat". Pick one. I hear it's not been quite as easy to train as he thought it would be. Somehow that doesn't surprise me.
I turned 30 a week or so ago. Somewhat sedate affair, the day itself was pretty much just another day. Cuff remembered me, and that made me very happy. My Mum sent me a shitload of money, which also made me happy (and will probably be spent on a ticket home at the end of the summer). I wanted Janette to get me Guitar Hero 2 on the PS2... I thought it'd be "ironic" for a 30th present. As my luck would have it, the bastard thing was everywhere I looked until the day we actually wanted to buy it, when it mysteriously disappeared from every shelf in the world. Ironic, indeed. My in-laws spend $300 on a fancy work bench for me. Ironic, again. I have no clue whatsoever to do with it, with me being so useless around the house and having nothing really needing doing anyway. Maybe I'll make a real guitar with it. Anyway, Random Jon Poole once told me life gets great when you hit your 30's. Seems the same to me, so far.
Crazy time at work, my boss got fired and within 2 days she was replaced with some French guy. Stunned for a couple of days (and very much concerned about job security), but I'm a little more optimistic now, I think there's some changes coming down the pipes that might actually make my job good again. Time will tell. Too much going on right now, though. We're hiring, but I suspect any day now some of the other guys are going to announce they've got other jobs and I'm back to square one. Oh the drama. Janette's still not got a replacement job, round 2 next week, though I think I've got a grip now on what specifically upsets her about the whole thing (more on that another day).
We took Andrew to see TMNT last weekend. It was surprisingly fucking awesome. Very weird to be taking my son to see a movie of something that I loved when I was a kid (though I was older than him when the Turtles were big back in the 80s). Makes me feel at least 30.
Run out of steam for this already. Hey, a new Wildhearts album came out this week. That was an odd surprise. I only found out about it about a week ago, I thought the band were dead, I just happened to visit their website for the first time in years at the right time. Similar thing happened with 'Yoni', I had no idea it existed til after it was out. Oh, and I spent months thinking 'Alien' was the latest and greatest Strapping Young Lad album before realising 'The New Black' was out. What an idiot. How times have changed. At least I still know what Therapy? are going to do years before they actually do it.
That's all, folks.
