See you on the other side

Nipped out for a quick bite to eat there... noticed I had a voicemail on my crappy mobile. It was a message from my Dad, to tell me that my Gran died earlier this morning.
Fuck.
I knew this was coming, but it's still a bit of a shock all the same, y'know? Totally surreal, getting that kind of information while you're walking down Argyle Street on a busy lunchtime too.
I'm pretty sure I'm OK. Sad, yeah, but I'm big 'n' ugly enough to handle it. It's as much the human tragedy as it is a personal one... you get old, you die. She's lived a long life, had three great kids who in turn have had some great kids of their own to remember her by. Now, she's at peace, instead of the pain she's been in for too long now. And that's the way it goes.
I don't know what else to say, so I'll just say, I'm OK.
I'm going to quit smoking this weekend. That'll be fun.
Yeah.
Fuck.
