That Monday feeling

Posted 4th November 2002 at 7:01pm by Stu
What a shite day I'm having.

Came into work at 11:30am (since I'm working late tonight, I usually take a late start on a Monday) and got all kinds of grief for all kinds of things. I hate this place. I want to sneak off home, but our ops director is still in and he'd notice...

I hear Meech failed his driving test again, so I guess going home isn't going to be all that much fun anyway... I'm really supposed to be telling him my big news (even Janette's parents know now), before he finds out from someone else... the mood I'm in today (plus the mood he'll no doubt be in), I really can't be arsed.

Splashed out some money I don't really have on buying Starfox for my Gamecube. Should be good, haven't spent any money on games for a good while (or even really played any games in a couple of months), though I really should be spending the money on things I need... still don't have curtains in the flat...

Weekend was pretty good... no crazy fighting with anyone this time. Went to Janette's for dinner after work on Friday, got talking to her friend Laura's boyfriend Andy (apparently I was only there for dinner because they wanted to get to know me better)... had a good blether with him about a few things, convinced him to come see MiNUS3 play this Friday. Usually don't talk much to that lot when I'm out there (not being a student kind of makes me feel out of place there), so that was pretty good.

After a quick journey home and back, went out to Fury Murrys with Janette to see Mangara... met up with Posh and Jen there, but we couldn't really hang around to socialise - Mangara came on just as we got in, and we had to leave shortly after they finished. Mangara are a really fucking good band, though... glad I went to see them again. Furys opened approximately 3 minutes before they came on and the place was empty... could hardly see the stage for the smoke machine anyway... but they rawked, and that's the main thing.

Got a taxi out to Cuff & Joannes after that to join in the fun at their halloween party. Cuff shouldn't have worried, his party was a bit of a success after all... some folks really made the effort (unlike me, who stuck on a wig and some shades and was Joey Ramone... I really was, it just wasn't as inspired an outfit as some, since I usually dress like him anyway). I realised that I have a few friends out there who have by now read this journal... (hello nosy friends of mine)... so the only person there who didn't know my big news was Meech. Oops. We had Barlow singing for half the night again, there was a bit of a fiasco involving a silly little girl who should know better, but all in all it was a good night.

Spent most of Saturday in bed. Lazy fucker that I am... at least we took Meech for dinner (and chickened out of telling him) in Paisley. Gave the excellent new Rocket From The Crypt album a couple of spins too, nothing like a bit of white-hot garage rock n' roll to see you through the day. Then we went out to the Auchengeigh Miners Club back in Moodiesburn (where I grew up) to play some pool with Paul, Tom, Meech and Janette... haven't been in there for years... though even if I hadn't moved away from there, I probably wouldn't go there anyway... what a shitehole.

Janette went a little bit strange from when we got home till some point on Sunday night... can't explain that in my own head, so I probably can't explain it here. Maybe she was drunk. She got back to normal on Sunday night though... and decided to tell her parents on the phone that she was getting married. Now that was scary... I think I'm in trouble, haha...

Sunday afternoon, went out to Paul's to try and help him fix his problem with his PC. Probably fucked it up more than it was before... but at least I got to steal his Windows XP CD from him, I'll mess about with that later.

Going home soon... I think I'll just switch my brain off, ignore the rest of the world, and play some Nintendo. Maybe I'll be a bit more inspired tomorrow...

I'd forgotten about that fucking smoke machine. When the drum kit broke temporarily, the guy in charge of the smoke machine decided what would really help would be lots and lots of smoke... irritating. We went back to Chris's place afterwards and watched the video, and all you can see is clouds... so dumb.
