Re: Band Q&A

The "bone machine" came from a pixes sone(your bones got a little machine in it)or something like that.
it was Dave O'neill that came up with it.

Re: Band Q&A

Was that an odd question? I just asked because at the time i was reading the bio of the band "cold" and i read that they made there last album in the lead singers little sisters room because she had cancer and it made them think and feel more to be there.

Re: Band Q&A

No, not an odd question I just didn't spot it was waiting an answer, sorry!

Hmm, that all sounds a bit deep and meaningful and perhaps a bit grim, but whatever works for them.

I guess for us the place isn't as important as the mood. If you're in the right frame of mind things seem to just come together without much effort, otherwise it can be a bit of a struggle and end up being fairly unproductive. You can't really force it so it's sometimes best to admit defeat and use the time productively by practicing existing songs for the live set or revisiting stuff we haven't played for ages. Sometimes that in itself can change the mood and get the creative juices flowing.

Most of our stuff comes about when we get together at the rehearsal studios or in each other's houses. Generally it'll start from jamming bits & pieces the guitarists or bassists had been working on and see where it goes. Occasionally someone will have a more or less completed song which may just end up with a few tweaks here or there. There's no rules or set formula though, sometimes we'll start something from scratch maybe just from an idea in someone's head or something that catches the ear while we're messing around or warming up.

Re: Band Q&A

Good answer.

Ok next one! What do you do to increase your popularity with the big guns? Do you really wanna go large or are you happy where you are?

Now then, this is probably our biggest weakness. We've had minor success here and there with some of our ideas but without any real clue as to what we should be concentrating on we've by no means cracked it. I guess a lot of it is to do with luck as well though.

For me the answer is both. I love being in the band and writing, performing & recording our songs. If the folk who hear us like it too then that's even better. I just really want as many people as possible to hear our stuff and hopefully enjoy it, if that means getting the chance to reach more people with the help of a record label then great, if it means doing it on our own that's cool too.
