| Re: New Website Launched looks nice. couple of points though - that sound is getting really irritating everytime you go to a new page and that bit also looks a little penile. also it may be better to have your previous gig dates in reverse chronological order.
anyway - apart from that i do like it. |

| penile... :( The idea was to build in an mp3 player and have the sound play when it loads but the actionscript turned out a little hard and it's gonna take a little longer...plus it was onlt to play on the intro page then turn into a jpeg but martin liked it this was so |

| Re: New Website Launched no worries.
you may have already heard of it, but flashkit.com is really good for actionscript help. i'm working on a bands site at the moment with a flash mp3 player - playing the mp3 is quite easy - making it interactive takes more time. |

| I like milkshake Thanks for that What band is this you speak of? can i see?
i can make mp3 players work fine it's just that I couldn't create an actionscript that allowed me to make a button on one swf that controlled the actions of another swf.
p.s. how do you like this http://www.deviantart.com/view/30198870/ i used a myspace mp3 player then modded with a new skin and buttons because the mp3 player that i made did not have a progress bar or playlist. |

| Re: New Website Launched Just so you know, for us Mac people, it seems there's a problem drawing everything properly in Safari:
Firefox is fine.

| Re: New Website Launched Dunno what's up with safari, there's a few sites it struggles with recently, not drawing certain elements at all or putting them in the wrong place.
It's so lovely to use in every other respect, and that problem is so rare, that I can't swith to firefox, which I find very clunky by comparison*—but slightly more universally reliable
*imagine not being able to press the UP cursor key to get to the start of a text field! Unforgivable!

| Re: New Website Launched The problem is that safari is loading the swf files (flash) with the wrong sizes and it's overlaying them over everything else?
I'm looking for ways to fix it but all i'm reading is how buggy safari is maybe you should just use firefox and get some add-ons that give you the things you get in safari?
(Have you updated to flash version 8? because if you are using an old version with javascripts then it could be what's wrong?) |

| Re: New Website Launched It has been disappointing of late, but I'm willing to bet Apple would blame the web developers each time for some inconsistancy or other; they don't admit blame lightly.
It isn't exactly funtionality that's missing from firefox, it's aesthetic compatability and habitual comparability. Here's an example (sorry to go a bit off topic, but it'll be illustrative of mac users not just being pig-headed about wanting to use Safari):
For a drop-down menu, Explorer and Safari both draw the available options, and without releasing the mouse, you can select the one you want (starting with whatever the default is, if it's in the middle of the list). With Firefox, it draws a PARTIAL list, starting at the TOP of the options, and if you want (in this example), to select the last day of the month, you have to click the drop-down menu, release the mouse button, click on the scrollbar, drag it to the bottom, release the mouse button, click on the 31st, and release it again... and the thing doesn't even LOOK like the drop downs you get in any other program anyway!
It's just horrible and inelegant. Not your problem per se, but something to bear in mind for why someone might be resistant to looking at your site if they have to do so with a screwed up face cos they're using a horrible browser

| Re: New Website Launched Yeah, cos it looks more like what you're used to, i imagine... but in taking the trouble to port it Mozilla should have spent 10 minutes looking at the APIs, that bit's done for them... and in any case it's not so much the look I'm complaining about, as the fact that it's literally much more WORK to use it, to the point you end up resenting doing so. You need many more key presses, or at best non-standard ones, to do each thing, (don't get me started on page-up/down selecting alternate bullets...) and that's frankly Amateur City on Mozilla's part.
Cue input from Poprock...

Steve Jobs must be reading this
All looks great, only comment I'll make is the BURBS logo could move down a pixel or two perhaps on the links page
