Personally though, Im a big beliver in what goes around comes around, you get what you give etc. If the staff are pleasent to you, you will no doubt react likewise next time you come back up to wet your whistle. However, there is also that flip side that no one likes to see... but given that life's a bitch, and shaking off the daily trials and tribulations can be tough sometimes, it does and will happen from time to time. Manners cost nothing, and you'd be suprised how much a 'please' and 'thank you' can effect someone's mind set to keep everything right with the world.
| In a public service industry manners do cost, they constitute part of what you pay for as a consumer. However, it's not always about pleasantries; I believe the first post in the thread refers to bar staff who were unhelpful re information regarding promos, etc.
I don't think that anyone should take their personal problems into their working environment, so if the trials and tribulations take their toll, then a step back is required. I do agree with you completely on how much your moods raised by someone taking the time to be courteous. Personally, I think the the barstaff in the Cathouse are good at what they do - fast workers, polite and rarely get an order wrong.

| Re: Helpfull Barstaff. I've never had a problem with the staff behind the bar in cathouse. I dont really expect too much from them because working with the sober public is bad enough never mind working with the drunk public. Having said that, if i was paying alot of money for my drinks in some swanky bar i would absolutely expect top notch customer service, but not in a relatively cheap club. |

Its doesn't cost anything to smile and it is part of the job to be nice to customers. I have to do it every weekend with hundreds of pished, arrogant indie kids, but I still do because its my job. The majority of the catty barstaff are dour, unhelpful and do come across as arrogant (although a few of them are nice and pleasent and therefore, get tips). |

| Re: Helpfull Barstaff. Thar be price lists on all the bar's except Bar 1 due to lack of anywhere to place one (wee bar infront of DJ booth on level 1, no walls etc), and there are posters and flyers dotted all over the shop detailing promos for all our nights.

| Re: Helpfull Barstaff. To be honest, working in a bar - any bar, anywhere - it pays to be at least semi-nice & helpful. No one is going to tip some miserable, ignorant wank. |
