| Re: FAO Kenny Everett Cheers for that Rik.
Coming from someone who publicly pretended to have DJed at the Shack and Bamboo because you warmed up for me twice I'll take your criticisms with the grain of salt they're worth
It sold out as it always has, and part of the reason for its success is that I don't just cater to the lowest-common-denominator throwaway pop stuff. So while I'm sure that not every single person in the room is an Iron Maiden fan, those that were at the gig that night enjoyed it enough to make it worth playing.
Still, snipe away if it makes you happy, in my view the success of my night speaks for itself in attendances, but whatever.

I am genuinely sad that people don't seem to enjoy these tunes as much as they used too. And the clashing vocal comment was supposed to be a cheeky jab (hence the wink), not an insult.

What I said was that I thought it was likely that at one point there was no-one else in Scotland regularly DJing to more people than me; I was doing seven nights a week, and most of them in big rooms, for a combined total of about 5000 people a week.
Since bigger venues like the SECC, Barrowlands etc don't run weekly club nights, I think what I said is probably true. However, I didn't mean it in the boastful way you implied anyway; just that I was quite immersed in the student clubbing scene. *shrug* Quote:

I've done the same night in the QM for thirteen years; I did (at least) two nights a week in the shack for four years; same with Bamboo; I've been doing two nights a week in Bunker for over a year now. Fools Gold has been running for five years.
Your experience of regular club is far less: a term and a half playing to a hundred people in the Hive, if I'm not mistaken. I don't mean that as an insult: you've got a good degree and a proper job etc; I invested more time in working rather than studying... plus I'm a hundred years old so naturally I have more experience.
But I'm therefore confident that even if you wanna criticise two records out of a twelve hour set, that there was a place for them, in the context I have for having DJed to those exact people hundreds and hundreds of times.
As to the mix itself, perhaps it lost a little fidelity when it was RECORDED ON A CAMERAPHONE AND RECOMPRESSED FURTHER BY YOUTUBE ; it maybe sounded different if you were there in the room
---------------------------------
Anyhow, I'm disappointed you chose to slag off the night publicly; I'm proud of what I do there and use every opportunity to promote the place. It's sad that you don't feel the same inclination.

| Re: FAO Kenny Everett You miss the point Alec, I was not intending to slag the place off. Offence is taken, not given, remember.
I'm not getting into any arguement, you will note that your post was 30mins after I had decided that my comments were unreasonable, and hence were removed. This is why I will not get into some silly battle. You are clearly a more experienced DJ, I don't dispute that.
I also don't believe it is fair to suggest that my opinions as a DJ are worth a grain of salt, just because I have DJed to less people does not mean I have any less technical skill, or an ability to read a dancefloor and play to the party as good as any other in the student scene. Also, I have chosen to persue a different strand of DJing, push my house and electro forward, letting me play the arches, the subclub, the soundhaus and the art school etc, and relocating, which has of course put DJing as I was on hold.
For the record, I DJed for a year in the Hive, and not a single night was there less than 100 people there. Also note, that this year the night has grown on the back of last years successful launch.

Now .... if you two are gonna start, can you wait until I get the paddling pool filled with peanut butter and charge the battery on my camcorder?
