Not exactly; only the second half is backwards.

I sometimes play the whole thing backwards with the reverse feature on the Pioneer CD players we use.

Less well known is that the whole introduction to Brown Eyed Girl is a musical palindrome; sounds really freaky if you play it backwards because melodically it's the same as it is forwards, but the attack/decay of the instruments is all wrong.
