| Hah! I was getting confused there, because you were going on about a lack of heavier/industrial music when at 11:45ish I was there dancing to exactly that kind of music before a block of metal tunes went on. Hope you have a better night next time, just remember - keep climbing the stairs until you feel your kidneys starting to vibrate, that's the room you want to be in. Quote:

I went several times and had a great time. It's stopped because they didn't pay Scott and Quzzy for the last one (halloween i think) and Digital Harlot has now got the slot now

| Re: Free Friday - Times are tough Aye, i reckon he just went to the wrong floor, usually takes me a good half hour to find anything I'd dance to on a friday (Which is just 'cause I can't really dance to heavy stuff until I'm so drunk I forget about trying to have any form of rhythm.)
Try again, and try upstairs, you'd probably like it

He was annoyed when he walked in because of what he (and to an extent myself) came to expect.
Is the title a play on words because of the altnation involvement? If so, then it seems more of an 'in' joke, as the only people who will get it are those who know about altnation (and they will know of what is played there that night anyway, so it seems pointless if the title is meant to be a pun), whereas everyone else who sees it who doesn't know of altnation (i.e. my mate, and probably most folk who get handed the flyer i'd presume?) will just think of it purely as a title that implies what type of things will be on that night (as he did). 'Damnation', as in being sent to hell/banished from heaven, implied super dark music and a general heaviness/darkness/edginess that would be hard to find in most other places in Glasgow. Hence we went along to check it out.
I also didn't realise until I saw the flyer that it's an active involvement with altnation ('altnation presents' at the top of the flyer, if I remember right?) - that's another reason why I went along. Even though most of my posts here end up with me arguing with people lol.
I must have been downstairs lol. Didn't realise there were two levels!! haha. so my apologies for that. If we knew we probably would have stayed! But my mate was pissed at thinking it was going to be super heavy, then walking in and hearing lighter stuff, so wanted to head.
Maybe that's something that could be obviously marked on the flyer i.e. a split-design flyer or something (i.e. 'floor 1 - emo; floor 2 - industrial' or whatever?)? Or maybe I just walk around with my head in the sand lol If it did mention the two levels on the flyer, then maybe it should be made more prominent, as with me and my mate (as with most people i'm assuming), we looked at the image, looked at the title, and said 'yeah let's give it a go'.
I'll be back, but being from the shire, it could be a couple of weeks or so
Cheers guys. Like I said, no harm intended. Just giving a first impression of the place as I hadn't been before, and wouldn't have known about it if I wasn't handed the flyer in the first place.
Now i'm curious - what's altnation's involvement with the friday night thing at the Classic Grand?
RE my night out - I was up at Jongleurs with my mate, then we drove down to Union street and I parked there. That's when I got handed the flyer and decided to go along. We were going to go to the casino just round the corner after Jongleurs, but on driving down through the town the place looked pretty busy, so we thought we'd go out and maybe go into a pub for one or two before going along (I was on the soft drinks lol as I had to drive home), then got handed the flyer, and said that we could always just go to the casino once Classic Grand closed shop for the night, and that we would go check it out.
A lot of the folk I know down this way know of the Cathouse and not much else (probably because of the under-18 thing the Cathouse puts on, and a lot of the younger ones go up to that, then I suppose it's natural to go to the over-18's once of age, as most people will stick with what they know), so i'll let them know they can always go to the Classic Grand instead, which is just down the road. | Cheers again for the feedback on the flyer. We do mention the two floors but I guess that can be missed. Perhaps signs in the club would also assist on the way in for new people.
As Mark said I happen to be one of the owners of the classic and also own Altnation. There are certain crossovers and the main one being the name of the first night we ever ran. Name wise we just liked the idea of people being Damned on the Friday and Absolved on the Saturday.
Again though cheers for the feedback it's appreciated.
