That weekend there was the first weekend that I've DJ'd in downstairs since I started working in the Classic Grand, and to be honest, I'm actually really happy with the weekend.
A few of the tunes roughly about half 1 were a bit poppy yes, but we cant control the groups of people that come in, and what they ask for. Its either kill the dancefloor, or keep it going and have a full dancefloor of people enjoying themselves, and its hard when your on a floor that youve never done before. Well it was for me anyways, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much because me and graeme did great.
Punk and Ska isnt usually my sort of thing, but to be honest, it was great to play something different, learn some more about different styles of music, and play for a different crowd.
There was a few MJ songs played, but shit happens. Dec done the exact same last week both nights and no one moaned. If you had to put up with the amount of MJ requests we get at the moment , you would have wished you had just killed him yourself, and youve got to play to the crowd, and when I finally got them outof the road, we got bombared with MORE requests for the deed bastard. I know for a fact though that 90% of the songs that were played downstairs on Friday and Saturday, were songs that fitted the floor.
If you have a problem with some of the songs , then come up and say to us, because for some magical reason, we listen. If you would rather say to Barry, then say to Barry. The guys been doing it for over 20 years, trained most of us up, and we listen to everything he has to say, beacuse he tries to help us and wants us to play to the best of our ability. I hold Barry REALLY highly, and still thank him to this day for training me up and getting me back on my feet after two years of the shit I went through, so ANYTHING he has to say, I listen to.
I also listen to Forbes as well, because after all , he is also one of the club owners, so saying to ANYONE, im still going to listen, but really wouldnt mind if someone actually came up and said to ME, cos feedback is feedback, positive or negative. You can only learn from it.
I originally was going to come in here with guns blazing, but decided there was no point, because I was really happy with what I played at the weekend, especially playing songs I had neveer played before and getting a great reaction from the crowd i.e personally for me, SKA.
Im not making excuses because as I said, I had a great night, and a few people moaning isnt going to eclipse the fact it was a great night. Theres no need for excuses. This is just a snippet of my thoughts and feelings on reading the last few pages of this thread.
So aye, stop fuckin greetin and just SPEAK TO US.

Im complimenting both floors, friend. I had actually typed all this out in editing the original post, but I took too long, which is why I had to type all this out, AGAIN, on a seperate post.
