| Rock Bars In Edinburgh Are there any? Im looking for the Edinburgh equivelant of the Solid or somewhere better. Im heading through there next Friday for Festival Erotique with Louise, but I dont know of any decent pubs to attend.
Every other time I've always ended up in some old mans pub, Rab can testify to this. Remember the pre Mission pub we where in a few months ago?

Saying that I have had a few fun nights there when I was too wasted to care about how it looked or sounded! And the Friday night DJ is a-ok!
I know this is an old thread, but apart from Opium, alternative bars in Edinburgh are pretty scarce, you might want to try The Auld Hoose in Newington or The Holyrood Tavern, also The Black Bull (top of Calton Road where it meets Leith Street). Can't think of any more. |

| Re: Rock Bars In Edinburgh Hmm yeah...
Opium's probably your best bet, although there have been many times i've passed there and the whole place is surrounded by, shall we say, unsavoury types.
Holyrood Tavern is just down the road. Although it is not a 'rock' pub as such, it's usually filled with metallers and the like, the atmosphere's nice andthe jukebox has a purdy good selection of music (Maiden, Alice Cooper, Sisters Of Mercy and stuff)

| Re: Rock Bars In Edinburgh Opium (in my personal opinion) is shite. It's a trendy bar that doesn't have enough seating or space, is too bright and shiny, and is badly located in the Cowgate, which really isn't the safest place for an 'alternative' bar to be located...

| Re: Rock Bars In Edinburgh Bar Salza is pretty good and often has music of a metal theme playing.
Also, if you fancy a bit of a treck, there is the Blind Beggar at Canonmills, The Bay Horse in Leith & The Pond at Seafield. |
