IDRIS TAWFIQ: An Introduction
Born in the United Kingdom, Idris Tawfiq has a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Manchester and another degree in Sacred Theology from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome. He stayed in Rome to study Philosophy as well as Catholic Canon Law.
Idris was head of RE in various English schools, and it was time spent with Muslim pupils, as well as visiting Egypt, that first got him interested in Islam. He embraced the faith in 2001 and has since been engaged in speaking and writing in a straightforward manner about Islam, spirituality and the Arab world.
Idris writes regularly for Islam Online and various newspapers, and his book entitled "Gardens of Delight: A Simple Introduction to Islam" will be released in the UK in March 2007.
