The Fight Night card was shit hot, they always are.
Cro Cop's retiring without actually saying "I'm retiring".
Mirko Cro Cop conducted an interview with Jutarnji.hr, below are the highlights:
On his body: "Maybe the ones who have said that I'm done are right. Obviously, I can't break my mental block in the Octagon. Besides, I've been training like a spartan for 20 years now — my body is worn out. The years caught up to me, I've been worn out."
On Santos beating him: "[Junior dos Santos] won that fight and would have won it by decision. Simply put, he is younger, more hungry, more aggressive. He wanted to win a lot more."
On losing his hunger: "The mat was slippery like glass. I almost fell down trying to do the left high kick. But I'm not looking for an alibi. This was not the performance the public would pay for. I don't feel the hunger anymore. I started playing it safe, I'm not ready to take risks. I would like to thank everybody that supported me and stood by me and everyone who helped me to prepare for this fight. I've been living a military life for 20 years now. Getting up at 6 a.m. and having physically challenging task up to 8 p.m. I want a normal life. I'm entering a cage and thinking about fishing in Privlaka. You can't win that way. Maybe I should've quit after I won the open weight grand prix."
- With his loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 103, the appears that the UFC is likely to drop Frank Trigg from his contract. Dana White made the following comments at the UFC 103 post-fight press conference…
"I think Trigg is one of those guys (like Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipovic). These (other) guys are young and explosive. There's just a whole other level of talent out there, man, and that's the way it works. That's the way this business is."
- When asked if he would give some thought before terminating Trigg's contract, White replied, "I doubt it, he got smoked tonight."
- Trigg commented on the loss, sating the following…
"I made a stupid mistake. I stood on his foot in the corner, and I got caught with a punch. If they say I'm done, I'm done If the UFC cuts me, I'm done fighting. I don't have the strength or determination to go fight in the minor leagues anymore. I've done it before. I didn't come back here for one fight ... so I could say I retired as a UFC fighter. I came back to make a run at a title fight. I want to fight. But if they're done with me, that's it."
- Trigg also made the following comments on his Twitter today…
* I used to be the bomb dropper, ohhh how things have changed, I just got news from far right field.
* I think there is a mistake. IF the UFC drops me I will retire, as of right now I'm still with the UFC looking for my next fight. .....
* If I can't fight for the UFC, I will move on to something else.
* Everybody relax, thx 4 the well wishes, I'm in until Joe silva tells me i'm out. I meant if they let me go I dont wnt 2 fight else whr
