Roy Nelson Gets Bitter -- Over a Win?

Making more media rounds Wednesday and Thursday was “Ultimate Fighter” winner Roy Nelson, who did a very commendable job of making Kimbo Slice look like a white belt on the mat. (And so far as we know, he is.) So why does he sound slightly bitter about the whole thing?

The problem, according to Roy, is that his win was contrasted against the stacked deck that was the UFC’s favoritism over Slice. “First round was 44 punches to the face, and then Herb Dean doesn’t know how to ref, but we’ve seen that before,” he told USA Today. “And then the next round was 22 punches. You could even see me yelling at Herb Dean, ‘Come on, ref.’…But the thing is, there’s a lot of people, there’s a lot of money…So I think it was more that Herb Dean was afraid to lose his job, because there's a lot of people with a lot of money that can have a lot of influence with his career.”

Insinuating the referee was colluding with management to keep Slice on the winning track is a heavy statement to put over Dean. If anything, you’d think that rationale would prompt him to stop the fight more quickly: Slice’s odds against Nelson were never good and promoters could feed the “premature stoppage” angle to viewers to keep Slice’s popularity from gassing out.

But that’s only if you’re into conspiracy theories. I’m not, but Nelson clearly likes to indulge.

Is it just me, or were the majority of the punches to the forehead/top of the head and not too much directly to the face?

Ok, Kimbo was offering nothing on the ground, but the punches being delivered didnt look to bother him too much either....

Maybe if Nelson's belly wasnt in the way, his punches would have reached his face.

I think Nelson is talking out his arse.

When I was watching, I thought he might have stopped it.

The punches didn't look to be doing much damage, and there was bout 20 seconds left on the round.
However, they were all unanswered, and Kimbo had no way of intelligently defending himself.

Roy Nelson just has a few ideas about his station. He's a good fighter, but he was just put out as he thought he was the big draw this year, when it is Kimbo.

I agree with the last part there, I just thought Kimbo decided to lay there rather than burn any valuable energy defending himself, considering his best defense was hiding under Nelson's gut.

I think Roy will win it but Kimbo has already been given a contract he leaked that he's fighting in December.

Should've been stopped in the 1st. Unlucky for Kimbers but he had nothing on the ground against Nelson's relentless and admittedly weak-looking punches.

I thought Nelson looked poor even though he won. His punches were tame and considering he is a Renzo Gracie black belt he didn't look great on the ground against someone who has next to no ground skills what so ever. With his pedigree I was expecting him to tie Kimbo in knots.

I don't see Nelson faring too well against the top heavyweights in the UFC. Plus his attitude is not ging to win him many fans.

He had the crucifix in his gameplan, he was talking about it earlier in the episode. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and done it, his ground game looked tight.

He's already got the Brock Lesnar method of victory down.

I think Kimbo was more dangerous in the fight than Nelson.

There's a key difference there. Brock has twice the stamina, talent and power that any of these jobbers have. Failing Carwin smuggling a hammer into his glove, Big Nog is the only one in the division that even stands the slightest chance for the next few years.
