Re: Best 2000AD collections

Shimura and Devlin Waugh are two huge bumper classics from the Dreddoverse.

Block Mania and The Cursed Earth for the best Dredd comics ever.

Xtinct and Nikolai Dante for weird sci-fi and beautiful art.

Bad Company - Best war comics outside Charley's War.

Strontium Dog - The Final Solution - Some of the best comics evereverEVER.

And I second DR & Quinch simply for being piss-your-pants funny.

Button Man. Not very sci fi, though. If I remember, it was only published in 2000AD if it was preceeded by a line setting it in the "very near future"...amazing story, amazing artwork.

Don't remember that.

*Digs out 2000AD #780*

Nope, no ''near future'' gubbins

Still an awesome story, last volume wasn't so good after Arthur Ranson left the strip.

Re: Best 2000AD collections

There are a couple of gems in the Rogue Trooper series. John Smith and Steve Dillons 'Cinnabar' series sticks out in my memory as being particularly good/mad.

Re: Best 2000AD collections

Cinnibar's well creepy. I was more meaning the earlier stories. I could look at Cam Kennedy art all day but the stories are woeful but this is with remembering them as a lad and then re-reading them more than a decade on. What I remember as a gung-ho violent serial is really just commando comics in space.

My favorite 2000ad books are the big reprint books of Dredd and SD. Some of Nemesis is worth a look

Aparently, the “30 seconds in the future” caption is missing...I definitely remember seeing it, I just can't remember where.

But yes. It is good.

Re: Best 2000AD collections

Man, I can't believe I forgot Indigo Prime. John Smith (Most under-rated British comic writer for the last two decades running) and Chris Westons black and white opus.

Genius, fucking genius.

Apparently Rebellion just released a complete edition of this (168 pages, think this is my new favourite 2000AD collection) which also contains all the insane Fervent & Lobe stories too. Buy it, I'm going to.

Can I not just borrow it then? Seriously, I only have about £50 to spend on comics this month and there's too many suggestions.

I'll lend you it when I get it (+Reading, re-reading and pretentious over-analysis time.) may be a month or two before I can afford it myself though.

Nice. In return you can take any of Posh's trades that I have. You don't even need to give them back to him!
