| Re: Favourite Comic Book artist I respect his write to experiment and grow as an artist, he should respect my right to think he isn't as good when he's doing his own inks.

| Re: Favourite Comic Book artist I agree, on DK2 ....... but, without Lynn varley the Dark Knight Returns would have disappeared up it's own arse..... Janson has built a career on the back of "tracing" the ultimate book. watchmen? Pile of piss. |

| Re: Favourite Comic Book artist A) Inking is not tracing B) He coloured Millers Daredevil as well as inking it and C) Janson also drew some of the best comics of the 1980s all on his lonesome.
His run on the Punisher is definitive.
Varleys colours on Ronin are utterly beautiful.

| Re: Favourite Comic Book artist He only did one comic I really loved, I've tried to read Samurai Executioner several times and it just bores me to tears.
He'd probably still be virtually unknown in the west if it wasn't for Frank Millers tireless promotion of Lone Wolf and Cub. I suppose he feels like he owes Kojima for appropriating his entire storytelling style.

| Re: Favourite Comic Book artist Didn't mention the writing, god forbid I'd drag a thread off-topic.
I mean, I like Kazuo Koike's writing, don't get me wrong, but I don't believe I made any mention of it.
On the manga side of things my favourite artist would have to be Akihito Yoshitomi, his Eat Man series looks the bastard son of Akira, Trigun and Ranma 1/2. The Masamune Shirow influence is fairly obvious, as it is in so much other modern manga, but the fantasy elements both bolster and transcend the standard cyberpunk manga.
