I'm too impatient. I should just wait until Ellis finishes a series before even starting it. Reading Transmet in such a short space of time was amazing. | Reading the first 20-odd issues of Transmet monthly was amazing, after that it very obviously falls into trade format. Preacher is the best example in recent memory of a comic that works perfectly both in monthly and trade.
I'd nominate Fell for this as well, but no-one is cool enough to buy it. |

| Re: What comic did you last read? Odd but true, I just read Transmet on and off there since Saturday. It was very addictive after I finished Lust For Life. I like how Ellis wasn't as LOUD OMG DRUGS ETC!!! towards the end and just told the story for the most part, it's what put me off at first. |

| Re: What comic did you last read? Borrowed some stuff off of Prof at the weekend. This morning I really enjoyed reading Iron Fist trade one in actual paper form after having read it on a monthly basis through the magic of piracy. I'd forgotten just how good it looked back when Aja was on the book! Those fill-ins totally ruined the last few issues. Gutted.
Yesterday I read Spider-Man 'The Birth of Venom' collection. Rereading comics you remember from being a kid is always hilarious. Surprising that Venom ever became a fan favourite given how much he gets his ass handed to him in his first few appearances. Spidey beating him by stripping to his underwear and shouting 'You want me? Come take me!' is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a comic book. Venom can't resist the cock. MacFarlane's art in the last few issues is truly horrendous.
Also read 'Avengers: Operation Galactic Storm'. Some pretty funny moments, mainly arising from almost everyone refusing to take Captain America seriously and Iron Man making awful decision after awful decision.
Later today I will make a start on Luther Arkwright. Wish me luck.

| Re: What comic did you last read? I read Avengers Disassembled the other day. It's by no means a poor offering- it has soem nice dynamic style pencils and some great contributing artwork in it but it felt rushed and the Scarlet Witch parts read like Doom Patrol on Qualuudes.

| Re: What comic did you last read? I always slag Bendis' superhero work and I don't like David Finch's style at all, but I actually really like 'Disassembled'. I think it's because I first read it while really high and it totally gave me a whitey. Gotta respect that.
I do love how it effectively keeps the reader 'in the action' while everything goes horribly wrong. Whitey.

| Re: What comic did you last read? Hahaha. S.H.I.E.L.D do come off as total dicks, especially when Fury has to tell them to look out the fucking window when the Kree armada turns up.

| Re: What comic did you last read? I cannot find any of my Hellboy trades. It's been about three or four years since I saw them last! Fucking weird. I don't even remember anyone borrowing them. I really want to reread it and continue where I left off. Bah.

All of the BRPD stuff is fantastic by the way, and deserves far wider recognition. Not so keen on the latest Abe Sapien series, I´m hoping it works better as a trade. |
