As for the bands, in general we put them on as part of the Cryotec clubnight, so the night is a mix of me and Tailz djing, plus the band set which usually runs between 30-60 minutes. And usually its just the 1 band during the night.
Entry at the moment is free, though thats dictated by the Cathouse not us, so it may change as and when they decide (no, thats not a rumor I'm starting, just making sure no-one is being misled over long-term pricing
)
One obvious point is that, because its free entry, it restricts what we can pay bands as appearance money, which in turn limits the level of act we can bring in. Basically Tailz and I lose money every time we put on a gig (though the Catty does contribute some of the costs - cheers guys
), but we're such nice chaps that we will continue to do it to give you lovely people a good night out!
As for stand-alone gigs that arent part of clubnight... Aye well, we've done that a couple of times now and got seriously burned financially each time due to the low turnouts. Unlikely we'd go down that road again unless there were special circumstances or a particular band approached us to set them up. Its just not worth the risks for part-timers like us
) but the type of band that Mr Mango is suggesting is more what we'd be looking at.
