| Friday 28/02 Hey
I've been going to bedlam for a while now, and trying out other places in hopes of finding somewhere that I can dress up and get down to my idea of what I'd like to hear in a club (which I know the Solid West isn't). I usually have to work Fridays, but am thinking of phoning in sick this week to give Cryotec a shot at last.
But first, I just want to see if any of my wishes would be granted -
PTP - Rubber Glove Seduction
Acid Horse - No Name, No Slogan
Excessive Force - Conquer Your House
Thrill Kill Kult - pretty much any of the industrial-y stuff ( Days of Swine n Roses, Shock of Point 6, Dimentia 66 etc.)
Revolting Cocks - 38
On the subject of what constitutes industrial, I've got into a few surprising things over the years because of what I'd call an underlying industrial feel - I'm thinking Kate Bush ( 'The Dreaming' and 'Hounds of Love' ), Talking Heads ( 'Remain In Light' ), Tricky ( 'Pre-Millenium Tension' particularly ), among others. It seems to be something to do with the harsh incessant rhythm, background noise and samples that makes me liken them to industrial - anyone else agree? To the extent that you might play them?
Hope that doesn't lead to a big argument, it's just an observational query.
Oh, and Aphex Twin - the only album I've liked ( and that's alot ) is 'I Care Because You Do', and I think much of it it has a very industrial feel, and could work well in your kind of setlist. I actually got into it by using it as a soundtrack for playing Doom years ago ( the Doom music's pish IMO ). What do you guys think of it? |
