But for it to happen often enough that the charges amount to six thousand pounds? Any idea how he managed it?

| Re: Claiming Back Bank Charges - Looks like the bubble has burst I know, does sound an awful lot. When he told me that figure I figured he'd worked it out himself and made a mistake, but if they offered him £2.5k it could well be right.
I know he had things like car loans and stuff, presumably most people have a maximum of what? three or four DDs (eg utility bills) that could be refused but if there's a few loan repayments as well... possibly bounced cheques as well?
Dunno exactly how he managed it, but with no offense to the guy - he's a good mate - if anyone could do it, he could

| Re: Claiming Back Bank Charges - Looks like the bubble has burst dude on the phone told me that it was an ongoing court thingy and that no claims would be dealt with until there was a final ruling on the matter(didn't tell me when) BUT he did offer a one-off reversal on the bank charge I was asking about without me having to make any fuss about it.

| Re: Claiming Back Bank Charges - Looks like the bubble has burst Banks are holding off repaying any of these until there's been a final court decision on it. A couple of high street banks have recently dramatically reduced the amount that they're charging for all of their charging categories (most probably in anticipation of losing the court case) and I wouldn't be surprised if others followed suit. Getting 6 grand of charges is mental tho!! That's like making a full time job out of failing to meet your financial commitments |

They've probably already got that lined up and ready to go, but the banks will be within their rights to appeal that decision too and spin the whole mess out for a bit longer.

| Re: Claiming Back Bank Charges - Looks like the bubble has burst I used to deal with idiots on the phone who had £3000+ of charges back then were STILL getting charged for going overdrawn in future months through their own crazy spending/stupidity. |

I don't think that's hugely unreasonable, don't banks increase overdrafts all the time?

Nope we don't. Most people can't get an increase anymore. Depends on how well the account is run.

At the end of the day the guy didn't have enough money to pay his credit card bill, thats no the banks fault.
