Nah, actually I was genuinely curious as to why somebody would if it wasn't for the bigoted/sectarian/battle victory celebratory reasons. To be perfectly honest supporting Rangers and “going along with it cos it's something Rangers fans do” wasn't something that I'd considered—though now that it's been mentioned I'm not sure why it didn't spring to mind.

As it is, though, I'm still none the wiser as to whether it's down to his support of “Orangeisms”, or 'cos he's a Rangers supporter, whether it's just a family thing, or something else. I'm not actually out to get him or anything, I'm trying to figure out what the rationale is for going along with it all when the image it projects is so obviously negative and it's so widely disliked—the pull of the marches has to be pretty strong to overcome that inherent negativity and go along anyway, to my mind.

i actually cant describe my intense distaste for the utter filth that populate the orange walk and the folk that use it as an excuse to walk about being more obnoxious than they usually are and blow their dole money on as many cans of super as they can afford and generally piss other folk off.

its an absolute joke that in this day and age these people are allowed to take part in this. i accept that maybe some of them just like playing whatever they play and fair enough but for the most part they are wankers. A good few years ago a guy on my street had an ireland flag up in his window and was shouting abuse at them. This is clearly no way to behave and the guy shouldnt have been doing it. But their reaction was to break their ranks and try and tan the guys windows and boot his door in to go up and kick the shit out him. the police luckily intervened.

Are these the actions of people who just want to go out and celebrate their faith and historical events?

Clearly not

Religion really had very little part to play in the battle, it was mainly about land and politics. Just another reason why some fuckwit in Glasgow with no Irish connections should have even less reason to give a shit about the 12th.

Its about as sensible as Kim Jong-il celebrating the United States' Independence Day on July 4th.
