Not even slightly hard to understand. In fact, you're pretty fucking thick yourself if you can see he's using 'Mandela' as a metaphor.
Bush is a useless moron and he talks enough pish that we needn't slag him when he's not saying anything exceptionally stupid.

| Re: Bush fucking up again Aye this is one of his more sensible comments. Don't see what the problem is.

| Re: Bush fucking up again I think it's a bit dismissive to generalise about Nelson Mandela, I regard him as pretty unique; Bush makes him sound ten-a-penny, which is a shame when you think about how Bush's achievements compare to Mandela's.
If he wanted to say that dictatorial tyrannies remove those people who threaten them fair enough, but saying "Mandelas" as if he's talking about hoovers or fridges is kinda insulting.

| Re: Bush fucking up again Exactly, If he'd said "the Nelson Mandela's of this world" then the comment would probably be one of the few sensible things he has ever said. But every time he opens his mouth people look for different ways to read his statement so that they're easier to ridicule. It's different textually than it is vocally as text removes so many aspects of phrasing unless it is written like you'd expext in a good novel.
We all know that Bush is generally a bit of a half-witted cunt but that statement really is true.
Put it this way, Mandela is a comparrison but he wasn't killed by the state. Saddam's style of rule meant that such a folk hero/terrorist couldn't be known of due to the fact that they ended up in a state of deadness rather swiftly. Iraq has no Mandela or Biko, just a lot of people trying to adjust to an increase of free choice. Whether they came by that choice through a way that we agree with or not doesn't matter because we don't have a clue what its like. Saddam's rule was good for a lot of very bad people and they aren't keen on things being different, so they'll try to make people fear them rather than relying on doing their business in a state already built on fear.
South Africa had an obvious character to turn to but Iraq doesn't, it also doesn't have such an obvious divide. Anyone could be siding with the followers of the old ways, that is why terrorism there is so common now and doesn't discriminate that much. It just picks areas that were less cooperative in the previous regime or who seem to be going along with the new regime. |

| Re: Bush fucking up again "I can understand why they would not want somebody that's running a country that's a state sponsor of terror down there at the site," the president said.
