Well, yes it is just a name.
The teacher never said "This bear represents the Prophet Muhammed".

She asked the kids "What do you want to call the bear?" and they liked the name... Which a great many people in the country have.

If she'd deliberately set out to offend Muslims, then she'd deserve to be punished - perhaps a small cash fine?
But for people to be actively setting out to hurt her, physically? That's fucking out of order. Anyone who's going to lurk outside a police station with the intention of attacking a woman who did no intentional wrong really is sick in the head and / or a cunt of the highest order.

You're right. ALL other cultures are shit. Anyone who goes to a foreign country should ignore all local cultures and laws and if they break any laws ignorance should be a reason to get let off from what the punishment for that crime is.

I don't think she should be whipped but it's the law there. She shouldn't have broken it. The law may well be an ass. The current prohibition of certain drugs is a foolish law and if I get caught breaking it I'd expect to be punished rightly or wrongly.

There's a difference.

And even if she were to be whipped as part of her punishment by law... That still doesn't excuse the scum "gathering outside the police station where she was being held" if their intention is to inflict violence themselves. Unless they're just rubberneckers, in which case they drop from "scum" to "twats".

The story states that there were concerns for her safety based upon men gathering outside the police station. Also, that the school is closed for fear of reprisals.
If anyone's jumping to conclusions then it's whoever wrote the piece with that implication in mind.
