Bit harsh. Why didn't they just round it off to an even 400 years or so.
Perhaps someone can explain how they pick the certain amount of years?

X amount for each crime I'd suppose, just tally them up. He'll be eligible for parole in 300 if he behaves himself. | |

There was a guy in Arizona got 200 years for downloading child pornography because of some bizarre workings of the law there (20 pictures, each carrying a sentence of 10 years, to be served consecutively). He'd have only done a tenth of the time if he'd actually went out and raped a child. His lawyers are appealing on the grounds that the sentence is disproportionately cruel but no-one's having it.
