Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses

Hillary's win in New Hampshire means that the gloves are really going to be off between her and Obama now. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the run up to Super Tuesday,

He doesn't need to, the fact that people are asking "could he be the first black president" is already playing the race card for him. Same way they're asking if Hilary could be the first female president. Neither of them have to play up to their difference, it's plain to see.

Thinking in slightly more cyncial terms the first black president of the US (although Obama isn't making it an issue in his campaign) would probably do the US presidencys current international reputation as the domain of stupid rich white men a great deal of good.

I suspect if Hilary got in then people might suspect Bill was still running the show to an extent...

There's an undeniable stigma attached to the name Clinton, and that will definitely have an impact, particularly among foreign observers watching this.

There was one on Bush after 41's presidency, but it never stopped 43 getting elected.

I am actually missing the frantic coverage of the caucuses. Roll on Super Tuesday.

Apparently, Kucinich is doing what Obama won't do: asking for a recount in New Hampshire.

Anyone want to put on a tinfoil hat and say Kucinich was asked to do this?

It wasn't Huckabee, it was John McCain, assuming we're both referring to the same Sunday Times article.

Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses

Early exit polls suggesting Obama has won in South Carolina. Perhaps expected given the state's ethnicity, but also undeniably critical - if he loses he's got big problems. John Edwards, looking to be 3rd this time, won here last time around. He is a native of the state. It's the Democrat's last vote before Super Tuesday, while the Republicans still have Florida this Tuesday, having already voted in SC.

Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses

Obama took SC, yus!

I personally wanna see Ron Paul and Mr. Obama battle it out.

I do not want to see another Clinton in the White House. That said its hardly Hilary's fault her husband was a former president. That said I don't like her anyway.

Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses

Despite Obama's win in South Carolina, I think that Hillary will win the Democratic nomination. Most polls show that she commands substantial leads in the Super Tuesday states (except for Illinois where Obama leads) but I do hold out hope that Obama will seriously challenge her in those states. Should she win the nomination, she will have to bring the party together and possibly add Obama to the ticket. Who knows? While I don't like the prospect of the Clintons in the White House again, we can't have another Republican as president. As much as the press wants to paint John McCain as a Republican who is not a right wing fanatic, his policy positions are still too conservative for my tastes.
