In 2006 (most recent since he spent most of 2007 campaigning), National Journal did a study of roll-call votes and gave McCain a lifetime rating of 72 in the political spectrum, with 1 being most liberal and 100 most conservative. I wouldn't imagine George W Bush is far off that rating, since it seems to be an average score for Republicans - so I wouldn't think his views are too different from the last 15 years. |

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses Obama defeats Clinton in Wyoming
Obama takes 3/4 of the Wyoming delegates, in what is more psychological than anything, but still a useful win in terms of regaining momentum, and a pretty hefty one anyway.

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses been looking at the BBC website and the delegate count is not showing up so far, i think (well a few are) there were what 160-odd delegates for pensylvania, and as far as i can say only about 15-20 have been allocated on BBC.
as far as i can tell it was a 55%-45% split of the race though meaning obama should still have a good lead.
which i think is the best thing.
MON OBAMA!!!!! |

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses Victory in Indiana but defeat in North Carolina makes it look to me like Clinton is showing the first signs of falling behind to a distance where some senior party members like Al Gore or someone are going to step in and tell her to withdraw and pull behind Obama for the 'sake of party unity', or some such crap. |

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses Hillary should back down now. Obama leads by 166 elected delegates, and if you count the declared super delegates, it only reduces his lead to 152. Six states still in play, with Hillary expected to win West Virginia & Kentucky - but the proportional system would divide the delegates closely. So she needs 70% of the remaining superdelegates - unlikely.
I still back my original McCain - Obama with McCain winning in November prediction!

On topic:- does it matter who gets the Democratic candidacy? Seeing as opinion seems to be republican win in the presidential race itself?

The two parties do still have a lot to play for.

The two parties do still have a lot to play for. | Agreed.
The Democrats would have a very good chance if whomever wins the Democratic race (I'm assuming Obama) makes the other candidate part of their election party. A joint Obama/Clinton election campaign for the presidency would stand a pretty good chance. Otherwise I do think that McCain will win.

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses It looks like Clinton might need to concede now, or she's give off a very poor impression as a sore loser. She's just throwing good money after bad at this point =/
