I hope she doesn't get the VP job though. |

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses Technically of course McCain isn't officially the winner either, Ron Paul has yet to concede officially. Both McCain and Obama are presumptive nominees now however.

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses Good on him, the next five months are going to be interesting. I still think McCain will win it but if anyone deserves to beat him it's Obama.
The media are still getting whipped up in a frenzy about a possible Obama/Clinton joint ticket, I think that would be a bad idea from his point of view and I don't think it will happen.

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses It is a bad idea, and I can't see him going for it at all. Clinton was considered at one stage indefatigable in this race and she's gone and lost it. She needs to think why, and anyone in the Obama camp who thinks taking her on would be a good idea needs to think the same.

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses Whoever lost, it's inevitable people are going to say its about misogyny, or racism. I don't think either of those played a major role. In the end, they were both well matched candidates, but Obama fought the tighter campaign. He wasnt subjected to much scrutiny until later on - with the Pastor Wright scandal and so on - but he handled that with aplomb. Her campaign was all over the place. My gut feeling is people didnt respond well to Bill Clinton's attack dog role. It only accentuated her biggest weakness, and the strength of Obama's campaign; that she represents the past, and he doesnt. And that's why I reckon he won't choose her as his running mate.
I love Chris Rock's joke: "No-one had even heard of superdelegates until a black man had a shot at the White House!"

| Re: Vote 2008 - The Caucuses I hope Obama wins the election, just so that people might finally figure out that it doesn't matter if it's an idiot white Texan or a shrewd Black northerner in office, the politics of the US stay the same.

They're mad as hell, and Hillary Clinton's supporters aren't going to take it anymore.
Some Clintonites are so mad about Barack Obama's Tuesday victory that they've launched a web site to build support to launch a lobbying group to support Republican John McCain.
...
The split illustrates the difficult task the Democratic party now faces in rallying the troops behind Obama. Open dissent within party ranks provides Republicans with openings to exploit.
Hale launched the "Hillary Clinton Supporters for John McCain" group last Saturday. The campaign claims to have 5,000 supporters, and its website visitor counter says that it has already attracted 37,8071 visitors.
...
Rickie Banning, president of "Hillary Clinton Supporters Count Too," a website, says that she's received hundreds of e-mails from Clinton supporters who are angry at the Democratic National Committee, and who are registering as independent. Some of them say that they will vote for John McCain.
...
And Matt Burns, a spokesman for the Republican National Convention, says that he's received voice mail from Clinton supporters offering to help him.

Only in American politics would you get people jumping to a candidate with policies which oppose those which they had been campaigning for more then 9 months.
Also, the Clinton Campaign has announced that she will withdraw on Saturday. |

I love Chris Rock's joke: "No-one had even heard of superdelegates until a black man had a shot at the White House!" | If you don't think race had at least a significant role you're being excessively idealistic I'd say. It's sad that it has played such a part, but face it - it has.

He's declared himself as the winner, not entirely the same thing. Hilary hasn't conceded defeat yet.
| I stand by my previous assertion, although at the time I made it, Hillary had not yet conceded. But whether she conceded or not would not have mattered since Obama had accumulated 2118 delegates: the number needed to clinch the nomination.
