I wish somebody would drive a shitspreader past Faslane Peace Camp, and make sure the thing's spraying at full-blast while it passes.

Would improve the smell of the peace campers greatly.

I've never been to one of these, I'm not really into demonstrations etc, in fact can't think of anything worse, but I have a question - what is the purpose of this event? I mean, does it / will it/ is it intended to achieve anything? This is a genuine question btw

to be honest, i do not know!

i think its more for a meeting of friends than anything else

but i dont live or visit the camp much at all so i dont know there exact intensions

From what I've seen, the purpose of these events seems to be to stop local folk getting to/from work/school/doctors/helensburgh. It doesn't really effect the guys on the base that much.

They are harmless, and they're ideas do have a point.. however stopping some poor sod who isn't even involved in the base from going to work at various points of the year (a la 356 protest or whatever it was) is just not the way to go about it in my opinion.

They don't normally do that though, seems a strange thing to highlight when the majority of their tenancy appears to consist of sweet bugger all with the occasional party. Though I can understand the locals not wanting a bunch of smelly hippies living up the road from them, probably frightened they'll corrupt their teenagers.

You've got a point, it isn't that regular at the moment, but last year was a real nightmare.

OK Gonna clear up a few points.
1. on site there is a shower, 3 baths, 2 working bogs, composts loo, running water, sauna, an much more.
So we DO WASH!! don't listen to untrue bullshit school yard rumours, Santa also does not exist.

2. as for stopping traffic etc last year. That was not us. Unless you think 1200 ppl live on site( the total arrested lst year)
That was thro Faslane 365, a differnt org, that we hosted, and told them our views on bocking the road. We even told bbc we did not agree with this approach. Getting into the base is a better option

3. some of us DO have jobs.

4. I'm not a fucking hippy. Why do ppl pigeon hole everyone, where does it state only hippies can oppose nuclear weapons.?

I was going to attend this but I'm helping launch the Glasgow Feminist Network's stall on the day. We'll all be outdoors anyway though, so here's hoping for some nice weather.
