| Re: Girl Murdered Because 'She was dressed like a goth' Yes, but your point doesn't stand.
Not that I've read or heard your point, but I can imagine it's the same tripe that you've posted in every single thread about an "undesirable creating bother on an alternative type" in the past 5 years. |

| Re: Girl Murdered Because 'She was dressed like a goth' It doesn't matter who it is getting beaten up - Anyone who launches an unprovoked physical attack on anyone is, by definition, a piece of shit.
And how does my point not stand?
I was asked if there's a link between simulated violence and real violence, with the insinuation that I'm somehow out of order for abhorring real violence but having sci-fi weapons in my avatar and sig... Folk have tried to use that argument before "You say you hate violence, but you own a company that allows people to shoot each other.".
It is a silly argument.
If I ran a company that allowed people to kick random passersby for no good reason, then thet point would be a good one.
As it stands, it's a daft argument.
If someone's broken enough to enjoy hurting random strangers, they'll do something. the only tenuous link to recreational simulated violence, be it video games, movies or wargames, is the possibility of an effect upon the exact form the violent act may take.

| Re: Girl Murdered Because 'She was dressed like a goth' Of course...
But then, who's to say it was actually unprovoked? Just because the media portrays it in such a manner as the "hoodies" were the provokers doesn't mean they were.
Stop being a judgmental bastard and get on with yer life. |

| Re: Girl Murdered Because 'She was dressed like a goth' Again, I did say that my comments here were made under the assumption that the article was an accurate one.
If not, then the whole discussion falls apart and is rendered moot. |

| Re: Girl Murdered Because 'She was dressed like a goth' Assuming this did happen ( Im not going to get drawn into the arguement above ) then it doesn't surprise me at all, to be honest. The only thing about it that surprises me is the fact that the victim was female. I've had very little hassle in the way of "goff attacks" since leaving high school, but since my bf moved here last year he's been threatened (And I'm not talking wee school boys shouting shit, I'm talking threatened with weapons etc) 3 times.
Shit like this is what gives me motivation to keep saving up and move the fuck out of this country as soonas possible.

| Re: Girl Murdered Because 'She was dressed like a goth' Damn you, Les, and damn you tabbed browsing... You got in before I remembered to put "for fun" back in there.
Still, the fact remains that even without the "for fun" part, they still need to be removed from society for society's safety and dealt with appropriately in a controlled environment.
The "for fun" caveat simply means that punishment should be added to the consequences. |
