Thats the gist of it yes. If you can't understand why its because the striaight majority used to persecute homosexuals often using homo as a means of offence. Well the Scots choose to be called Scots by and large. Folks from Pakistan had their nationality thrust upon them. Also 'Jocks' has tended to be the preferred derogatory term for Scottish folk as oppossed to Scot.

I was saying that with reference to bacterial infection (as IYGN was told was the reason piercings had the waiting period), the 6/12 month period was completely arbritrary. Yes, there is a period of dormancy with regards to viral infections that should be taken into account, but if after 6 months a blood test is completely negative, shouldn't that also be taken into account?

How the hell is the thread title screaming prejudice? Its in direct response to an article on the news which called for an end to the current ban on non-infected homosexuals being denied the opportunity to donate blood.

It didn't reference any other "banned" group, only the homosexual community as the target of this particular campaign and I fail to see how the thread title "screams prejudice".

there isnt a ban on gay people donating blood! hence the title of this thread is wrong! There are however,regulations in place that decree that certain practices pose too great a risk and as a result said practictioners are prohibited from donating blood.

gay or not if you dont fit the criteria then you wont be allowed to donate.
