How can you read loads and not read a lot, I thought you'd just cocked up your post but Rachael seemed to understand it?

Reading books is kinda like living in a wee bubble.

I read loads of books but I dont watch much tv, and as such have a pretty good imagination but very little grasp of current affairs.
I tend to read when I'm out and about (Very rarely go out without a book) but I can't see myself doing this watching television.

Which doubtless means that important parts of my imagination have come from watching tv. Im not disagreeing here at all really.

I prefer reading to pretty much anything, I've always got 3 books on the go so that when I inevitably lose one, there's still 2 more to plough through.

Wasn't my point, I tend to read socially and am more than capable of reading a book while watching whats going on around me.

    No bubble here.

Pick a story that looks like it's going to go on for a while and follow it. Don't even read a whole newspaper, just read the story you've picked every day. You'll be surprised how quickly you get wrapped up in it, and want to know what's going to happen next, just like serialised fiction.
Recommended right now: the US presidential contest and Russia acting all badass.

I found that after while reading newpapers just made me feel complicit in my governments actions to a sickening degree.

I must be missing some fundamental component of your sentence that makes it makes sense.

How can you read loads, but not read a lot?

Ah, right, thank you (That was driving me nuts)

I disagree, as was made plain by the posts following Rachaels, but this is overwhelmed by the feeling of relaxation that I can now understand what that sentence is supposed to mean.

Television isn't known for helping kids improve their literacy skills, especially not when presenters talk as if they've been lobotomised.

Doesn't work for me, I get confused by all the diferent information and in all honesty, I have very little interest in most of it.

I'll read up on films etc, but thats about it.
