Don't even read a whole newspaper, just read the story you've picked every day. You'll be surprised how quickly you get wrapped up in it, and want to know what's going to happen next, just like serialised fiction.
Recommended right now: the US presidential contest and Russia acting all badass.

I'll read up on films etc, but thats about it.
