Please cease this ridiculous "pulling the country out of a hole". Or if you must spew such nonsense consider who in the country was being pulled out of this "hole". |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Trying not to get all class warrior here (I'm a bit too middle-class to do it with any conviction anyway) but I don't think Forbes is the best person to ask for an unbiased account of Thatchers economic policies. She was pretty nice to rich, white, straight people on the whole, or was at least less personally evil to them.
No offense Forbes, just calling it like I see it. Quote:

Seriously though mate, you've got to stop being so judgemental and bitchy. The fact that you're bitching about people being bitchy and judgmental just makes it ironic on top of being self-defeating.
Actually, you can do whatever you want, but it does seem quite hypocritical. |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Don't feel any sympathy for her family either kids. Just because one of them went to the jungle for a bit. The other went to the jungle to overthrow a democratically elected regime. Not that anyone should be judged on the sins of their parents but the whole family can wallow in shit until Maggie remembers her pin number for all I care.
I really fucking hope she forgets what a cunt she was and, just before she dies, she realises it and dies sad, bitter and alone.

She reduced inflation, which was running rampant gave people the opertunity to buy their homes, still at the end of the day it's always going to come down to being on totally opposite sides when it comes to her, some hate her with a passion (probably with good cause) and some think she was what was needed and I guess some will love her cause they made loads of money. Actually, you can do whatever you want, but it does seem quite hypocritical. | As I said I made a mistake, hey I can admit to it unlike some people, as for being judgemental yup sometimes I am, we all have our flaws, I don't really think I've been bitchy though but I don't tell people to fuck off just for the sake of it, course that's a whole other thread so lets leave it out of this one.

Hence the never-ending economic recession Britain was doomed to by the time she left office. Quote:

No offense Forbes, just calling it like I see it. | None taken course it would help if you had more facts, considering my dad was working class truck driver that worked his way up during the thatcher years bought a farm then got made pretty much bankrupt and worked as a plumber while my mum worked as a secretary.
Yeah we had great times during the Thatcher years sleeping in the one room of the guest house they eventually managed to buy with the 18% morgage rate and worked like bastards to make successful. In the end we lucked out, like alot of people did who were given the opertunity under thatcher to buy their homes, since house prices went throught the roof.
So yeah were now relatively well off because my Dad worked like a bastard, got knocked down and got back up and and worked harder and we got a little lucky and he instilled in me that same attitude, you have to take the odd risk and just work as hard as possible and not expect any hand outs.

If anything, your post reinforces what I said. |

If anything, your post reinforces what I said. | You should have perhaps worded it better then. How could she be nice to us if we weren't rich at the time she was about?
I'm sure however , as always , I'm misunderstood what you meant. Quote:

There was also no 'us' implied, unless you're referring to rich, white, straight people as 'us'. Wasn't having a pop at your family in the slightest. Quote:

I was just stating that I have probably misunderstood you, which always seems to be the case in our discussions.

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Sounded pretty bitchy to me, especially as you opened with the classic "Oh, I misunderstood you, it must be your fault."
You're old enough to have grown up in the 80s, and frankly the Thatcher years have been pretty good to you, economically speaking. Also to your family, as you state in your own post that it was thanks to her that they were able to buy the guest house. (Though, as Endless Psyche pointed out, for every person who benefitted from that, hundreds suffered.)
You can argue that you're not being bitchy if you want, but it'd be a rather tedious debate, no doubt full of sickeningly passive/aggressive jibes like every other post you've made in this thread.
A) I'm not particularly interested in talking to someone who is listening to what they expect to hear rather than what is being said
B) We're filling the thread up with this bitchy crap
PM me or whatever if you still don't get my meaning, though I can't actually see clarifying my posts helping any. |
