| Re: Thatcher has Dementia I didn't recieve that much "disciplining" when I was younger; I think the reason I got into trouble that time wasn't because I was late coming home from school, but because he thought I was lying about it, and that I refused to stop lying. |

i wasn't aware you were so deeply involved in politics

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Not involved in politics in the slightest, I put a lot of that down to growing up in the 80's.
Though the subsequent governments have hardly been great either. |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Discipline from my mother was like an ECW match. One time she threw an open pot of yoghurt at me~!! I used to go into school with chunks of skin ripped out of my arm because she's dug her nails right into me for giving her grief in the morning, and I'm amazed at how much stories of this kind of thing as well as hair pulling, skelps across the face, etc. actually shock some people to the very core and don't make others flinch in the sligthest. Guess people are used to whatever happens in their own homes and find it hard to believe anything else happens elsewhere. Personally I wouldn't have had it any other way - reckon I grew up a pretty reasonable guy, I don't think I'd be quite as harsh with my own kids but I certainly learned my lessons. Anything bad I did, I'd probably have kept doing it if a slipper to the arse was all the punishment I was given.

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Dementia is horrible. Its a horrible illness and its just upsetting for everyone involved.
The having to tell someone that thier wife/husband/whoever is dead is fucking awful. Sets offf the whole grieving process all over again which is why with dementia the currently theory is that you "buy into" thier version of events as its ultimately less distressing.
I have one wee man who asks about his wife and mother daily and I have to dodge ot with "I've not seen them today, but lets have some breakfast and we'll see about it afterwards" rather than cope with the sheer grief he displays when some kind soul tells him "Whit? Yer mother? Whit age are you? 88? Yer mithers deid. So's yer wife" |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia I take it there will be a similarly self-congratulatory thread about Tony Blair's senility in 2030?

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Hmm....... nah. Maybe a little but not to this degree. Then again if Blair had made good friends with Mugabe then perhaps.

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia I just can't bring myself to hate Thatcher. It's always so sweet to look at her when she's talking to Reagan. A grocer's daughter meeting a movie star.

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Blair's more odious, offensive and thoroughly hateable than Thatcher any day of the week, but where's the fun in thinking contemporary when you can throw daggers at archaic cardboard cut outs?
