| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Well a number of people in hugely powerful positions fit the diagnostic critera for... Doesn't nessecarily mean they are (pedantry I know). |

(it's kinda like the difference between the psychiatric concept of anxiety and the everyday use of the word.) |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Reports of her screaming mania, foaming at the mouth while orating and chewing on curtains at number ten seem eminently believable and in-character for the woman to me. But again, pure semantics.
I probably shouldn't allow myself to get so worked up about Thatcher apologists, I'm only going to run into more and more of them as I get older.
"I don't think she was really all that bad."
Yes, she was.
"But Blair/Major/Brown was worse."
No, they weren't.
"Well, yeah, but all politicians are evil and corrupt."
Yep, and she was the worst our country has seen in living memory.
Thank you, and goodnight. |

Thank you, and goodnight. | I'm not an apologist. I think she was the proverbial nasty piece of work. I think Blair's primarily responsible for more harm, though. Brown and Major? Both impotent.

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia If you think that Blair A) has more blood on his hands or B) that he was responsible for more harm to this country then you're an apologist.
This could be for any number of reasons, in your case I'm guessing that the damage done to the British economy (Never mind the British people) during the Thatcher era is simply not your area of speciality. Large parts (And I don't mean 'areas of the public sector', I mean large tracts of the country) of this country were left unemployed, dead and broken thanks to her. Just because Tony Blair was in charge while it all continued on its merry way to hell doesn't make him worse. Corrupt and useless, yes, but I would never have said the man was evil.
That said, I know a few people who know/knew Blair personally and the common consensus seems to be thats he is a slimy yuppie scumbag. |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Apologist.
I could sit and hash this one out and Thatcher would come out with both a higher bodycount and a more vicious record for human rights abuses, but thats really what it comes down to. |

| Re: Thatcher has Dementia Beg pardon, your first post implied disbelief (Which I took as a standard dig, seeing as how you generally give the impression that you think that I'm pretty dishonest and unethical.) and I just assumed that you were continuing in that vein. |
