It's fucking ridiculous, I owe them around £190 because they never registered my change of address (Idiots) and charged me months and months ago and then every 2weeks from that, but I never got the letter, until they phoned me the other day to tell me that I have 2 weeks to pay it or the Debt folk get called in.

    Fucking joke so it is.

    Re: BoS Charges

Write them a letter basically saying 'The Office of Fair Trading has ruled that a 'fair' bank charge shoul be no more than £12, unless the bank can prove that the administrative cost are more than the £12. As a result, I believe I am owed the difference for the following charges' Then list the charge amounts, dates, and reason for the charge.

It's also good to say 'I am more than happy to go to the Financial Ombudsman service in order to resolve this matter, however I am aware that it's the fir thing to allow you to respond and give you the opportunity to correct this matter. I also hope this leads to you reconsidering the charges you apply and bring them in line with the OFT as so many banks now have.
If you don't agree and decline to refund the above amounts, I will take the matter to the FOS after following the correct procedure, and take my business to another bank who value their customers enough not to charge extortiante amounts.'

Want any more help, let me know. I deal with the bloody letters often enough.

You can probably get a graduate account with overdraft.

To be honest, Dyno, I have no idea. You are better off phoning your bank for the advice, without giving your account details so you don't get into trouble.

Link me to where the office of fair trading say this? I work for Lloyds TSB and I have never heard of this in my life. The banks are in court no final decision has been made. Apart from the fact the office of fair trading can decide if they are fair or not, which they haven't done as yet.

Charges are pure shit tho, our charges can be about 215 per month if you stay overdrawn for a certain period of time.

This is mate see if you have a shite credit from one bank another one might not take you. Lloyds give accounts to people that are bankrupt so you might get a basic one with us, but our charges can be shit loads more that 35 pounds.

It's called bullshitting your way through it and hoping to scare the bank enough into just giving you the charges back.
