Although Palin is a loopy as a fruit bat and I'd prefer Obama to win, I reckon McCain is actually the better of the possible Republican candidates. Whichever of the two win it, they look better in just about every way than Dubya. Except for the whole 'McCain has an embolism and Palin nukes France because she got the squits from some McD's french fries' scenario.

Palin really ticks the boxes of the right-wing Christians, pro-lifers and the gun lobby.
I have a funny feeling that these groups are under-represented in the polls.

Usually my icy cynicism/perceptive skills says that there's little difference between the Democrats and the Republicans, but Sarah Palin is defying all expectation and making nuts like Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz look like Cynthia McKinney.

I think it's in the bag for Obama. The ultra-conservative might well be under represented in the polls buts, firstly, the only states where they will have a big enough number to have any say will mostly be in red states already. Furthermore african-americans are the least likely to be registered to vote in America and I can see the chance of a black president being enough to get a decent number of those out to vote.

I really would like to see Obama win it, I just can't see it though, those inbred racist right wing Christians just wont allow it, even if he does win he'll be lucky too see 6 months before some hill billy shoots him or blows him up

I've heard that there's one state at least that has made it that you need to have a valid driving licence (with photo on it) to vote - thereby ruling out a lot of African-Americans. Apparently if there's even a difference in spelling between the driving licence and the voter list or something the Republicans can challenege whether the person can vote or not :-l.
