The right-wing blogs and forums are exploding, it's pretty amusing. Rumour has it that there are two SPL footballers on the list but as yet I've been unable to find them - typing "Allan McGregor" into the search function over and over again is yielding no results.The British National Party has lost its membership list - the whole thing has been published online.
The list includes names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of all members up to September 2008. It also includes some people's ages, especially those under 18 - the BNP offers family membership for £40. Many entries also contain more personal comments about jobs or hobbies. That's how we know that that BNP members include receptionists, district nurses, amateur historians, pagans, line dancers and a male witch.
Members have unsurprisingly reacted with outrage. One commenter said: "I'm also on the list, what the f#ck is going on? I could lose my job." Another: "The most shocking thing is some of the comments by the names! God help anyone who is in the army, the pison [sic] service, health care, police officer or a teacher." Several professions in the UK are expected to refrain from party political activities. More outraged racists rightwingers here.
Various senior BNP figures are being blamed on blogs for the leak.
A spokesman for the BNP was unaware of the leak but said: "It wouldn't surprise me if someone has done this, but they'll be in trouble, not just under the Data Protection Act but also for contempt of court - there's an ongoing court case."
UKIP recently rejected overtures from the BNP suggesting an electoral pact. Meanwhile, UKIP's most famous ex-member, Robert Kilroy Silk is currently disporting himself on I'm a Celebrity...while collecting his MEP salary of course.

Racism is fucking scummy as fuck. But are they not a legally endorsed party? Might some of the members not joined beacuse of their views on certain issues? So its funny that people are gonna get a kicking or get lose their job beacuse of their views?
The possible repercussions for certain people aren't particularly amusing, but the (over) reaction on a lot of the far right forums are. You could make the argument that a BNP member who's a nurse/police officer/teacher are quite likely to take liberties with their duties, though whether that justifies forced exposure I'm not so sure.
Does being a BNP memeber mean you're a racist tho? I know thats a core thread running through the party but still.

From what I've been reading, the leak reveals that the BNP have been keeping lapsed members on their books to inflate their membership figures.
Well, the right have been doing it to the left for god knows how long. Just look at Redwatch (A mate was listed on there just because he posted on a webforum that he was a member of the Communist party, couple of other folks I know in the SSP were listed on there as well).
The thing I find funniest is that the BNP members are so comfortable with their views that they are terrified about loosing their jobs and threatening to kick the crap out of their beloved Fuhrer.

I had a wee peak through the list, was expecting to see Andy Goram on it but, shock-a-roonie, he's not on it. Cannae find out any of the "two SPL footballers" on it either, probably a load of pish.
I did giggle at one guy Seamus having his membership banned for 6 months. Didn't give the reason but.
