| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... The Herald's a fair shout. Not necessarily for the articles - usually a rehash of whatever's on the BBC site - but the columns are decent most of the time, well-researched and argued, and for the most part as far to the left as you'll get in a mainstream newspaper. Whether it's worth spunking the money on is another thing, a wee trip to your local library should yield results.

| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... The Sun is a far superior paper to The Record (well the sport pages are. I don't bother with the front end of either).
Record's still my favourite crossword tho'.

I generally just read the Metro if I bother to read anything at all... I will admit to reading The Sun on occasion but this is purely for the hilarity that is Dear Deirdre and to read whatever highly constructive and interesting quote the page 3 girl has come out with that day.
Generally I don't think it's worth going out to buy a paper if you can get all the same information online for free and without having to get out of my PJs (because I'm a fucking lazy boot).

| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... My mum & dad buy The Daily Record among other papers and i must admit, i love reading Joan'sJunior's on a Monday. It's quality!
In other news, try The Heald or The Guardian. |

| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... the only paper we buy is the Times on a saturday. This is mainly because it provides me with enough paper for the ferrets to crap on for a whole week.

| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... I'll take the jakey route and read the Guardian in the library, see if I like it first. It's easy saying go online (which I do at any given opportunity), but I've not got the interwebs in the house. So a breakfast paper is required.
And aye, the Digger is class...a friend of mine and Claire's was in it once. Something to do with pouring a cat litter tray over someone's head, I forget the details. |

| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... Best papers are The Guardian and The Independent.
They're much the same for news, quality-wise. Independent's got better columnists, but The Guardian's sports coverage is light years ahead.
I usually get the Independent because there's free copies at the gym in the morning. |

| Re: Fucking sick of the Daily Burnie/Record... The Daily Record... anyone I know who buys it just jumps straight to Ask Joan for a cheap laugh. "Dear Joan, a boy sneezed in my ear and I'm scared I might be pregnant!" Answer - "Dump him, men are shit".
I read the FT, but that's mostly because it's useful for work. If I just want to see the news I either go with The Guardian or The Times.
