| When Will The Next Westminster Election Be Held?
Given that Labour have just announced a tax increase that won't come into effect until after the next election, it's looking like said election might be held sooner then the 2010 date that has been floating about since the summer.
Anyone care to predict the date/month of the election?
By law, European Elections have to be held on the 4th of June 2009 and the Westminster election must be held by the 3rd of June 2010.
My money is on March 2009, to be announced a few days before Westminster goes into recess for Christmas.
Brown will want to take advantage of his boost in popularity, but won't want to announce an election for a few weeks yet until positive sales figures start to come in for November and December, but he'll want an election before the economic effects start to get too bad, otherwise his popularity boost will loose momentum. |
