This is lamentably true. No way should I be paying upwards of £1.30 for a bottle of juice, but when there's a train in 5 minutes and I'm parched, it's too easy to just pay up rather than go round the corner

I bought a book in Smiths (as a present) about 2 weeks ago cheaper than I did when I got it in Waterstones the week before (for myself).

I've bought loads of chocolate in the fire sale (lest it melts) but it's crap for just about everything else. other than xmas shopping the last time I was in was for some homewares that were poor quality and I only went there 'cos I couldn't get to Ikea.

Woolworths's "up to 50% off" sale is actually laughably shite. Pretty much everything was 10% off, and one of the staff told me that there were about 3 things in the store that had more than 20% off.

Pretty miffed. I bought my wee yin the car bed from Woolies online in November, it was due to be delivered on 1st December, forked out £200 for it. Of course on 1st it didnt appear, I called, no phone line exists anymore, checked website, that doesnt exist either! PANIC!! Finaly, 4 days later al I get is an email sayin that the order has been canceled.....
    MORE PANIC!
But they did email me the next day saying i will be refunded in 3 days, the 7th December. Ok i know theyr a bit busy being shut down n all, but they could have at least refunded or told me earlier, now as its too close to christmas, I cant order the bed or anything similar from other companies without it taking 22 days or more to be delivered. My wee boys present gone, GUTTED!!

Went in on Friday to indulge in a half price pick-n-mix...was cruelly dissappointed that it was only 10% off. Still got a fiver's worth of skulls, strawberry pigs and cola bottles, though. And the skulls weren't even squishy.

I didn't get to eat the bloody things until today; Well, I've had a few over the weekend, but not much. And aparently, the ward in Stobhill that my mum is in was closed down last week thanks to half the patients having the shits. Hmmm...if I did catch it from the hospital, then those hand-gel dispensers that are everywhere don't do shit (no pun intended).

They got their wish and Kingfisher eventually became DIY only.

Never worked though - Kingfisher are still a FTSE100 company, Woolies are bust. They just didn't have what it takes to make it in a competitive market, and survival of the fittest means they were always gonna go.

WH Smiths to be in real trouble soon for the same "everything at a higher price than anywhere else" reasons Woolies failed?
Weren't Woolworths an American chain originally? *wikis* Yup, they were, Woolworths Group PLC became seprate (and British) in 1982.

And Foot Locker is aparently the successor corporation to Woolworths, "after its change in focus to athletic clothing." There you go, you learn something new/useless everyday.
