[Politics] How can I demonstrate my passion for politics?

I'm hoping to apply to colleges this fall as a political science major. I understand that it looks good to be "well-rounded" but I want to somehow emphasize that I live for politics. Any suggestions?
Just to let you know being involved in my school's student government is not an option; ours is one of those cliche do-nothing governments that act like elitists.

Just show yourself to be knowledgable and enthusiastic. If you live for politics this should be fairly easy. Pick a few policies/issues and show you ate engaged with and understand the debates surrounding them. Know the ins and outs of some different electoral systems/constitutions/legislative bodies the benefits and downsides - at least the basics. Stuff like that

I would think that that would make it all the better for learning how to be effective in the face of obstacles, which would be a worthwhile thing to develop.
