| Ugandan Anti Gay Bill Advocates the Death Penalty for Homosexuality Hi guys, greetings from Africa!
I attended a Human Rights seminar on Friday and was made aware of the Ugandan Anti Gay Bill. It looks like this is going to be passed, and even the human rights organisation I work for think that this is "god's will". I therefore urge you to do something about it.
Unfortunately, there is no web link (openess and fairness is not something the Ugandan government is au fait with), so just google it.
Please support the abolition of the Ugandan Anti Gay Bill, which is trying to push the DEATH PENALTY for homosexuals. Please please please, spread the word about this, it is utterly abhorrent and needs to be stopped!
Contact the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, human rights organisations, the European Union...ANYONE!!!
I'm trying to set up a campaign in the UK while im over here...I cant really do too much here because the backlash is pretty fucking harsh, but if anyone is interested let me know and I'll put you in touch with the groups as we get them together. |

| Re: Ugandan Anti Gay Bill Advocates the Death Penalty for Homosexuality Is this a protest against the death penalty, or a protest against the outlawing of homosexuality?

| Re: Ugandan Anti Gay Bill Advocates the Death Penalty for Homosexuality Who fucking edited this initially?
Honest to fuck.. Quote:
A Scottish football manager faces the sack as the coach of the Ugandan national football team – unless he signs a form condemning sodomy.
Formers Rangers star Bobby Williamson, who has spoken out against discrimination during his career, faces the boot unless he falls in line with the anti-gay government.
Homosexuality is illegal in Uganda, and Williamson has been asked to part in an anti-gay offensive in a bid to rid the game of an alleged “culture of homosexuality”.
Every coach in the country must sign the form handed out by the Ugandan FA (FUFA), which “denounces any support or involvement in sodomy-related acts.”
Williamson, who has managed Kilmarnock and Hibs in the past, said that most politicians and footballing authorities were strongly against homosexuality in Uganda.
He said: “There has been a lot of talk about homosexuality in the game in Uganda and I’ve heard stories, although I have no evidence of it.
“What I do know is that politicians and football officials seem strongly against it.
“What I will say is that you have to abide by the law of the land in whatever country you happen to be working in.
“Until FUFA speak to me about that it’s a hypothetical matter and I’ll reserve my views until I’m approached.”
Authorities initiated the clampdown after a prominent Ugandan footballer, Isaac Omalla, reported his manager Charles Ayeko to FUFA, claiming that the older man had sexually assaulted him after a match.
FUFA are persisting with their efforts despite the fact that Uganda could be expelled from FIFA if their actions do not fall in line with the pro-inclusion policies of the sport’s global governing body.
Stone Kyambadde, a senior Ugandan football official, said: “We are going to address [sodomy] in our code of conduct.
“The code will denounce any support of involvement in sodomy-related acts.
His calls were echoed by Ugandan newspapers and Rogers Mulindwa, a FUFA spokesman, who said: “We totally condemn it.
“We want evidence to pin the people involved – it’s here that we will start the clean up.”
Williamson, who had spells as a player in Scotland and England, was appointed coach of Uganda in August of last year.
The Glaswegian has spoken favourably of Ugandan football in the past, saying that his colleagues in the 84 per cent Christian country were “grateful for what little they have” and “God-fearing”. | Over zealous mods just cutting now without actually paying attention to what they're cutting..

| Re: Ugandan Anti Gay Bill Advocates the Death Penalty for Homosexuality Cleary alt nation politik more important then a few Gay Africans dying... I mean they are black and full o' the AIDS after all...
From whats been said it's a horrific bill and excusing excuses about cultural imperialism and relativism a decent argument for a sort of Keynesian economic policy. Leading to an increase in the much maligned (ho ho) middle classes and the dreaded Western thinking. (Thats the dreaded "third way" western thinking as oppossed to free market/Marxist stuff)

| Re: Ugandan Anti Gay Bill Advocates the Death Penalty for Homosexuality That's just bloody ridiculous, is what it is.
No doubt there'll be petitions, sites and the like going around soon enough- updates'd be appreciated from anyone who's got 'em.
Though it has to be said; considering all that Proposition 8 nonsense in California however long ago it was, and that's in a country that's supposed to uphold the right to expression and free speech and all the rest of it, shit like this is hardly surprising. Meh.

| Re: Ugandan Anti Gay Bill Advocates the Death Penalty for Homosexuality Interestingly, at the same time, in the same country, they've made moves to outlaw female genital mutilation. Quote: |
